Our Story
The Beginning
From the time she was a little girl, Emily was intrigued with how scent could trigger memories and evoke emotions. While completing her Entrepreneur Business Degree her interest for candle making and running a small business ignited. With those two passions, she convinced her best friend Chelsea to move to Tennessee where they established The Rustic House in 2013. With recycled glass, a used wax machine and literal sweat equity during Chattanooga summers, they formulated the perfectly scented soy candle.
The Rustic House is inspired by a love for simple living and the rustic, yet modern, farmhouse-style.
As southern girls from Alabama, Emily and Chelsea's childhoods were filled with family reunions around rustic farmhouse tables, lake days and running through tall grass. Life was simple, and everyone was happy.
The Rustic House unites the best of the traditional and the new, with a classic candle designed to complement virtually any decor. We work with the industry's finest perfumers to create exclusive and unique candle fragrances. Each candle is hand poured to ensure the finest quality.

Our Process
Since The Rustic House was established, our goal has always been to make a perfectly scented candle that is made with a lot of love and care. So, what else goes into each candle?
THE WAX. Each candle is made with sustainable, American-raised soy. Since it does not contain additives or dyes, the candle burns clean and emits a large and even scent throw.
THE WICK. Each wick is made of 100% braided cotton--nothing else! Just make sure you trim the wick (to ¼ inch) as needed to ensure the longevity of your candle.
THE FRAGRANCE. We have worked closely with chemists over the years to create a scent line that is unique to The Rustic House. Not only do we take pride in the scents we carry; we also care deeply about quality. Each candle is scented with cosmetic-grade fragrances and oils. Each scent burns clean and even to the bottom of the container.
THE CONTAINER. Each candle is housed in a crisp, white container with a wooden lid. Why white? Just because you like lavender doesn’t mean you want a purple candle! Our white containers are double-painted to appear chic and clean. The scents are able to speak for themselves, instead of blending in with surroundings. The wooden lid is also functional; you can use it to snuff out the flame once you are finished enjoying the candle.
